Interview w/ Brattnae (Rapcrush)

Your name stands out. Tell us about your name and how it came about?

I’m a real life Brat, like that’s the perfect name to describe me and nicki had the whole Barbie thing going on so I wasn’t feeling it I always felt like I was a bratz doll so that’s how I got that.

Then my middle name is donae so I took the nae out of my middle name and put it together.

Rapcrush is just some I thought about one day I started using it as captions then added it to my rapname im thinking about changing my rapname from brattnae to Rapcrush .

Describe your overall sound and what it means to you passionately?

My overall sound is new I feel like it doesn’t match this generation sound. I have a unique voice from the way I flow by it being so smooth it sounds amazing on a beat . I love my sound and my music because it’s different you can never say I sound like anybody.

What inspired you to want to be a part of the music industry?

I mean music is something I love to do since I was younger I was never really good at anything else but music. Once I started doing it became more easy for me I can’t stop doing it and it makes me happy . If I was to do anything and this world I would choose music like why not do something you enjoy for the rest of your life .

With everything being so costly, Do you enjoy grinding it out independently or would you prefer to be signed to a major label?

Honestly I been independent for years now I think I would stay independent it’s cool to still make your own moves and do what’s best for you

What do you think goes into building a loyal fanbase?

Consistency and creativity I mean keep new but different music and videos coming also promotion .

How do you plan to reach your fanbase?

Networking promotion and consistency

From a business point of view, which artists in the game do you think are really pushing the boundaries and changing it up? Chance the rapper because he is from Chicago and he is independent and he’s really killing the game now he def showed the world that Chicago is more then just drill and killing .

What do you love about hip-hop & rap music?

I love the fact that you can do whatever you want it’s just expressing yourself thru music . It’s really art it’s like your baby because you can be as creative as you want take it as far as you want create things that nobody as ever thought of . It’s beautiful . My favorite part about it is just taking something you experienced or you seen and making it a song and people saying they love it that’s amazing that you can share experiences with the world like that.

If you had the power to change one thing about the hip-hop industry to help independent artists – what would it be?

Be there self it’s like everybody scared to be who they really are or say what they want everybody is like robots doing the same thing dressing the same nobody is being different and I guess that’s what they lack .
